Rogers Center adds new areas for Blue Jays fans, food
The Toronto Blue Jays announced details on the latest renovation of Rogers Centers with four new areas for both fans and food.
The trend toward open social spaces continues across professional sports and this renovation will provide much-needed life in dark reaches under SkyDome’s centerfield hotel.
Welcome to Rogers’ Neighborhood
The club christened the areas “outfield neighborhoods”. Each section owns a destinct look, feel and menu fans.
The spaces will add a breath of color, green and fresh air for a stadium desperately in need of panache. Known as SkyDome, Toronto’s weather demanded a domed stadium and 1990’s architects delivered one of the first retractable roof stadiums. However, its original calling card involved a group of hotel rooms overlooking center field.
SkyDome’s multi-purpose nature created a big of a dead area behing the outfield walls. The bullpens were among the most lifeless in all of MLB, but recent reonvations have improved that area.
