MLB Food Season Opening Day!
MLB food season is finally here and no sport merges food and viewing experience quite like “America’s Pastime”.
Here’s some top prospects we’re going to keep our eyes on this season!
With new rule changes to speed up game times, fans will average under three hours of eating time! So plan your concessions strategies accordingly!
That being said, the trend toward local flavors and chef-inspired offerings continues. And there are some whoppers to consider during the 2023 campaign!
Globelife Park in Arlington, TX, the home of the Texas Rangers continues to offer outrageous plates.
This year’s invention is the “Boomstick Burger” which is a massive, seemingly mile-long hamburger.
The stadium was already famous for lengthy foods such as the two-foot Boomstick hot dog and the Fowl Pole, the world’s longest chicken nugget.
So the Boomstick Burger seems to be a natural evolution. This 2-foot Nolan Ryan Beef patty is garnished with Texas Chili Company Chili, Rico’s Nacho Cheese and Jalapenos, and Crisp Onion Rings – much like the original Boomstick – and served on a fresh-baked brioche bun. The price? Well, considering it will feed a family of 12, is not too bad…just $34.99. Just hope everyone agrees on medium-well.
TEXANS LOVE BRISKET
Globelife Park has an excellent reputation for dealing out brisket concoctions. And this year is no different as they have added a French twist to their most recent invention – the Brisket Croissant.
Goodness that can fit in your hand! Je t’aime beau coup!
GOLDEN FRIED INSANITY
What is it about a golden crust that makes one’s mouth water?
Famous chef David Chang bashed together the Fuku Chicken sandwich that gives the middle finger to bland stadium fare!
“Fuku is an authentic New York brand that’s rooted in culture and community, and we’re proud to be teaming up with one of the city’s most respected sports franchises,” Claudia Lezcano, Fuku’s CEO, said in a press release.
So Fuku is backed by RSE Ventures which operated by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross.
The Fuku is a spicy friend chicken with a cool combo of pickles.
We’ve seen a trend toward Asian flavors such as Korean and Japanese with kimchi spices, wasabi and other Asian-fusion flavors. So this trend will continue at Yankee Stadium.
ITALIAN YANKEE FANS GET THEIR DUE
The Bronx Bombers have also launched what is sure to be a hit with Yanks’ large Italian audience – the Broccoli Rabe (pronounced “rob”) cheesesteak. This will be an acquired taste as broccoli rabe has to be carefully prepared otherwise it comes off as bitter and tough.
You can also get a chicken version: According to MLB.com – “Get your choice of cheesesteak on a Bronx-baked hero — either pork shoulder, marinated broccoli rabe and sharp provolone, or chopped crispy chicken, pickled jalapeno, smoked bacon, American cheese and buttermilk ranch.”
Fah-getta-aboutit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EVIL GENIUS…
The evil food geniuses at Aramark-run Citi Field in New York have done it AGAIN!
It takes the sugary sweetness of a donut and pairs it with the crispiness of a fried chicken breast drizzled with honey BBQ. They call this Jacob’s Pickles Donut Chicken Sandwich.
Jacob’s Pickles launched on New York’s Upper West Side in 2011 and has since moved to additional locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. They feature “Southern Comfort Classic Food.”
You should be well-comforted and possibly need a nap after ingesting this bad boy.
TRENDS WE’RE SEEING
The Waffle Craze continues across all of MLB with chicken-and-waffles becoming a staple.
Meat in a waffle cone is also growing.
This notion of bashing savory and sweet together with golden-fried or crispy textures continues to be a hit with patrons.
That’s just a TASTE (a little food humor there) of what’s to come this MLB season!
Send us emails about the foods you’re experiencing and we’ll check ‘em out!
